　　In the ancient time, when the weather was hot, we used the fan to let us feel more comfortable by vibrating our own hands. But in the modern life now, there is an great invention that has revolutionized the way we behave today which is called "air conditioner." It is so easy and convenient that we just need to insert the connector and click some buttons, then the cold air will come out of the machine. Air conditioners have been existed in everywhere, such as homesites, schools, and skyscrapers. It is hard to imagine that how we live without air conditioners. We feel annoyed when the whole body is moist and sticky especially in Taiwan, a island climate, in summer. Also, there are many modes that we can choose for what we need from it. For instance, we can select one that gets rid of moisture when the weather is wet or one that would give us a good dream by turning to the comfortable sleeping mode. On the other hand, there are many drawbacks when using the air conditioner. In the early year of this invention, the refrigerant that we used in the air conditioner produces enormous green house gases which could reduce the quantity of the ozone of the earth. The weather will become hotter and hotter if the ozone hole keep continuing expanding. This is a big disaster for all humanity. In recent years, people start to worry that the whole environment is getting worse. The original refrigerant are replaced by R-134a. Although it avoid damaging the ozone, the air conditioner still produce many heat when it works. The invention not only affect our life indoors but also change the global environment outdoors. How to reach the balance between convenient life and the environment is a required course for all human being.

　　I have left my home town for studying since I was a collage student at Nation Huwei University. And I have been living in the dormitory and an apartment with my classmates for 7 years. There are some differences between living at home and in the dormitory. The advantages of living at home are that I have my own private space to do anything I want to without any disturbance, and I can eat many delicious measl which are made by my mother. Also, I do not have to do the laundry and pay for the rent. I could avoid getting wet in the rain by driving parents' cars, if it rains heavily. In contrast with living in the dormitory, there are 6 roommates living in a small area where studying, sleeping, and playing are put together; therefore, we have to respect each other when someone is taking a nap. At meal time, I often go to school restaurant with roommates or classmates every day, and I have eaten each store's food for more than 10 times. I am quite bored with that. Doubtlessly, I have to wash clothes by myself. But, there are still many advantages of living in the dormitory. For instance, it is convenient for me to ask instructors about curricular problems, do group discussion with classmates, and spend tiny time on taking the bus NO.11 to school because I live on campus. Also, I can come back very late because there is no set time of dormitory when I go out with friends for some entertainment, such as singing songs at KTV, watching the midnight movie, and having a date. For me, the dormitory life is synonymous with the university life which is full of challenges, give me the opportunity to be independent, and learn how to take care of myself even others around me. Now, I prefer living in the dormitory so much because after graduating, I will not have the second chance to feel this.

Social Dance

　　I have learned "Social Dance" from my "Daily Life English" teacher, Maria Kally, for more than one month. She has been interested in social dancing and learned how to dance since she was in New York. At the beginning of April, she started teaching at the International Building first floor (IB 1F) at 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday. Some of students who have a class at this period of time could not join us, so she hold one more class at 3:30 to 4:430 p.m. every Thursday. Fortunately, I am totally free at the two periods of time, and I have lots of fun while dancing.

　　If you are interested in Social Dance, don't be shy and come to us. You won't be late to learn now, because Maria has hold another "Catch Up" class for the beginner at 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. every Monday. She is such a kind and patience teacher.

　　Curiously, the number of girls in this dancing class is more than boys, so we really need more boys to join us.

Why did I choose my major? (Final)

There was a story about why I have studied at Department of Mechanical Design Engineering in National Huwei University (NHU) for five years and Department of Mechanical Engineering in National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) for two years. When I was a junior high school student, I did not know much about how many majors/subjects there were and what they exactly did. I just studied very hard for entering a great senior high school day by day like any other third-grade classmates. One day, one of my classmates told me that there was an entrance exam, and he desired to get the entrance. I thought it was a good opportunity to get an experience before high schools' entrance exams, so we took the test together. Unfortunately, he did not pass the test, but I did. When I got the entrance, I was not happy at the beginning. Because all of my classmates had the same goal and concept to get into the top three senior high school, National Taichung First Senior High School, National Wen-Hua Senior High School, National Taichung Second Senior High School. Also, we wanted to graduate from top three high schools and go into the top universities to study medical science or law for being a doctor or lawyer. Both of them could help people from pain and was highly respected at the society. That was what we called "Perfect". However, I was tired to study for those high schools' association tests from morning to night day after day, so I decided to go to the college. And I was assigned to the Department of Mechanical Engineering by the scores. Now I have studied many courses like Dynamics, Computer Aided Design, Mech-tronics in Mechanical Engineering for 7 years. I found out that the machinery had played an important role since industrial revolutions and had effected the way we live nowadays from our daily life to heavy industry. For example, the cell phones and computers peripheral we use today is getting smaller and lighter, the new material must be developed and the accurate processes must be revolutionized to make those tiny components. In addition, the energy crisis problems had come out for many years, the technicians and mechanic experts need to advance the efficiency of power engines to reduce the oil quantity we use. These projects and problems are so emergent that all of the technicians and mechanic experts should solve immediately. I am interested in solving these problems and have the responsibility and duty to figure out these emergencies because I am an engineer. Also, I am so proud of myself if I could do something for this world. That was the reason why I chose "Mechanic" as my major.

My name is Cannon Mao.
I'm a senior student at NTUST (National Taiwan University of Science and Technology) and major in Mechanical Engineering.

In my leisure time~~
I like to exercise and do sports, such as swimming, badminton, and tennis. If you want to play badminton with me or learn how to play, it will be my pleasure because I used to be a member of the school badminton team.
If you desire to lose some weight or learn how to swim, don't be shy and just tell me. You won't be drowned, because I am a lifeguard.

After school, I always make dessert with my father who has been interested in baking and made bread & desserts for more than 20 years. And I've learned something about how to bake dessert from him, such as chocolate and Japanese puff.

My father knew that I loved to eat chocolate very much, so he made different kinds of chocolate for me when I was a collage student. And I always love to share the dessert to my classmates and friends.

In 2006 summer, we decided to found our own store, "Feeling Eighteen", which made chocolate only. We'll try our best. And hope you would like to give us more opinions and share the life experiences for us.

What is very improtant skill?

We've learned many categories of skills from the university courses, such as computer skills, and professional skills. When you work very hard and make a nice product by these skills, that is just the first step. How to let others know what you're thinking about will be the most important skill.

Most students at the collage or university must have the same experiences which is nerves and without confidence on the stage. Even though we have already prepared enough and practiced for many times. But it's difficult to present the emphasis to our boss and customers in seconds.
